The Other Me by Rachael Aligbe
In less than two minutes, Nedu returned with his birth certificate.
The three of them examined the certificates that were placed on the table before them.
“Same hospital!” His mother exclaimed.
“Same year!!” Nedu exclaimed.
“Same date!!!” Nonso exclaimed.
Their screams woke Nedu’s father who was taking a nap due to exhaustion from his trip. He panicked and raced down the stairs.
The three of them turned to look at him.
When he saw Nonso, he missed a step and almost tripped.
Whats happening here? Whats all these commotion about? Who is this? Why do you two look alike? Mr. George kept on asking questions that none of them could answer.
I guess the only way to get answers is to go to their birth hospital. Thank God that it is still operational. Nedu said. He really needed answers.
They all agreed to Nedu’s suggestion and resolved to go the hospital the following Monday; just twelve days to their birthday.
Mrs. George silently prayed that at least one of the two midwives would still be working in the hospital as she would be able to recognize either of them.
