On a cool Saturday morning, after saying my morning prayers, I chose to stay in bed a little longer. Jake and I had been very close friends for about a month. I reminisced on all our conversations. I wondered when he would ask me to be his girl since I had seen all the signs. The response to that question had been hanging on my lips for about a week. Then a phone call interrupted my thoughts.

When I saw the caller, I quickly picked the call.

“Hello.” I said.

“Where are you at?” He asked.

“In my room.” I answered.

“I am driving towards your hostel; I will be in front of your door in less than ten minutes.” He said and hung up.

Immediately I heard his last statement, I jumped down from my bed, sprinted to the bathroom and had a quick shower. I brushed my teeth and wore a navy blue gown. I was done within five minutes. Whilst I did all this, Dianne kept asking what happened and who called but I simply told her to chill. I knew I wouldn’t be ready if I answered her questions.

“You were saying?” I asked when I was done and sat on the bed.

“Oh! You have my time…” She sat up to respond.

We were interrupted by a knock on the door.

“One minute.” I said as I stood up to open the door.

I quickly adjusted my hair before I opened the door.

“Hello Cee.” He said and came in.

“Good morning Jake.” I responded.

“Hi baby sis.” He greeted.

“Hello Brother.” She replied and burst into laughter.
