Surprise! Surprise!!

There was a knock on the door. I had just come out of the shower and I assumed it was Dianne at the door. Upon opening the door, I froze at the figure I saw… The time stood still; the world stood still.

“Oh I am so sorry!” He said.

“It is okay” I replied and continued, “I thought you were Dianne, hence my reason for not getting properly dressed before opening the door.”

I stepped back and hastily wore a pair of short and shirt. He was gentlemanly enough to remain at the door whilst I dressed up after closing the door slightly.

“Yeah, about that, I wanted to pay you two a surprise visit. I only called her few minutes ago when I had difficulty locating you two. She didn’t pick up. I had to send a text message which she replied.” He said.

“You can come in.” I said.

“Thank you.”  He responded as he came in.

“You’re welcome and welcome to our humble room” I said with a smile.

“Thank you once again.”

Whilst I was trying to make him comfortable, there was a thud on the door.

“Charis!!!” Dianne screamed.

“Yeah!!!” I screamed back as I opened the door.

“Jake said he was…” She begun and swallowed her words as she saw him.

She sounded like someone who had been running.

“Yeah” I uttered.

“Hello sister. Welcome.” Jake said.

“How was your trip, brother?” She asked.

“It was fine.” He replied.

“I was in a class that was why I sent a text message” she said.

“You didn’t inform me…” I said as I rolled my eyes.

“I sent you a text message” She replied.

“No you didn’t!” I responded.

“Just check your phone.” She replied.

“Oh yes, you did; my bad” I said as I looked at my phone and saw her text message.

“You see…” She said.

“So what have you two been talking about since his arrival?” She whispered to me.

I was not ready for that conversation so I stylishly avoided the question.

“You must be famished; why don’t we all go out to lunch? You could invite Pete…” I said with a loud voice and whispered the latter statement to Dianne.

“I would gladly do that.” She replied with a grin.
