In The Hollow Of His Hand
As Pop pulled over at the parking lot directly in front of the Administrative Block, my heart beat rate doubled. This is it!
After the whole clearance, I was given a key to my room.
“I just hope I would have a nice roommate; I don’t want issues.” I thought to myself.
While I rolled one of my boxes, Pop helped with the bigger one. Finding the room wasn’t a difficult task. When we got in, I discovered that my prospective roommate hadn’t resumed. I was ecstatic as I would get to choose a better bed space, wardrobe; I would be able to settle in and arrange my things the way I want them to be arranged.
After Pop dropped my things, we checked the bathroom and every other facility to make sure they were working perfectly well. Then when it was time for Pop to take his leave, we said a word of prayer. I locked the door and saw him off to the car. Even though I was happy that I had resumed college, I was not completely happy because this is the first time Pop and I would be apart for so long. I began to think of how he would cope but then I remembered that there was a Kate; so Pop would be just fine I concluded.
After Pop drove off, I went to my room and settled in. When I was through arranging my things, I took a warm shower and lay in bed. I brought out my iPad and sent Bella a message on Messenger; I had collected her number the previous week after informing her that I would be resuming college shortly. Whilst awaiting her response, I dozed off.
I woke up startled from a nightmare – Pop was drowning and I was not there to save him; nobody was….
