In The Hollow Of His Hand
Episode 76
The Meeting
“…After our conversation during my two weeks leave from work, I decided to step out of my space. I surfed the web for tourist centres within the vicinity but only found one at the countryside and I decided to check it out. I booked a flight for twelve noon the next day and left a note for Josh whilst leaving that morning.
I left as early as nine in the morning so that I wouldn’t miss my flight due to the traffic jam on the routes to the airport. By eleven, I was done with checking et al and settled on a seat waiting for departure.
While we were on board and we were putting our luggage in the overhead bin, I had some difficulty with putting mine due to my height. I suddenly felt a stronger masculine hand on my luggage. I think time paused for five seconds because the smell of his cologne was so captivating that my heart skipped a beat. When I turned to show my appreciation for his help, I observed that he was a young, nicely trimmed bearded man. I thanked him and sat down. He smiled revealing his perfect dentition and nodded. I observed him talk to one of the flight attendants before settling down in the seat beside me…

“It’s Derrick” he said as he stretched out his hand for a handshake.
“Keira” I replied as I shook his hand.
“Living in the countryside or going on a visit?” he asked.
“Visiting.” I answered.
“Oh nice.” He replied.
“You?” I asked.
“Visiting too.” He responded.
“Oh nice.” I mimicked.
We got chatting about a lot of things all through the flight. After we alighted and went our separate ways, I boarded a cab which took me to the resort centre. I was warmly received and taken to my hotel room. It was when I lay in bed that it dawned on me that we didn’t exchange contact details. I was surprisingly unbothered even though the typical me would have been worried.
