She laughed long and hard.
“Sorry babe, I couldn’t tell you.” She apologized.
“It is fine. How do you do?” I asked.
“I am good and you?” She responded.
“I am good too. How are you enjoying the holiday?” I asked.
“Enjoying it fairly. I can’t wait to resume.” She replied.
I observed that she said the latter with great enthusiasm.
“Why is that?” I asked.
“Well, I don’t have friends around here, so no one to hang out with. Plus the one whom I could hang out with, is there with you.” She answered.
“Oh, sorry about that.” I apologized.
“It is fine.” She responded.
“What about Pete?” I asked.
“He wouldn’t be here until Thursday.” She answered.
“I see. That’s four days away.” I said as I counted the days in my head.
“Yeah. That’s gonna be four long days.” She responded.
“Oh. Can we continue this conversation tomorrow? I’ve got to sleep” I asked.
“It is fine. Night.” She said.
“Night.” I responded and lay down on the couch.
“You should sleep too cos church is for 9 a.m.” I said to Jake drowsily and after that, I was completely knocked out.
