In The Hollow Of His Hand
“Uhun” He mumbled.
“How’s Jane?” I asked.
“You remember her name…” he replied.
“Duh! Of course; you know I am good with names.” I said with pride.
“Yeah right. She’s good.” He answered.
“Does she know you’re here?” I asked.
“Yeah…” He replied.
“How so?” I interrupted.
“I got to tell her about you two weeks ago.” He answered.
“And?” I asked.
“She’s cool with it; she’s cool with you.” He responded.
“Phew” I sighed.
“What was that for?” He asked.
“I don’t want any girl feeling unsafe with her man around me; cos I’m not a boyfriend snatcher.” I answered.
“I see. Pop was…” He began.
“…No, don’t go there. He had high hopes.” I interrupted.
“Yeah, you wouldn’t blame him. We were pretty, pretty pretty close.” He stressed.
“I get it; you didn’t need to stress the ‘pretty’ word.” I challenged.
“Do you remember when we used to talk about getting married and raising kids?” he asked.
I laughed long and hard for some seconds.
“Yeah and how we would have two children; a boy and a girl. That was then; we were young and naïve. That’s under the bridge. This is now. You’ve got Jane and I have Jake. Plus our relationships are sailing well.” I answered.
“Hmmm… Jane… Jake…” he said.
