The Love of the Father

The Bible Study was awesome. I loved how Pastor Dave dissected the Scripture.  He talked about ‘The Love of the Father (Part II)’. While he taught, I found myself writing:

The Father is love. Love is His person. You can’t give what you don’t have. The Father loved us so much that He gave (John 3:16). Giving is a proof of love. You cannot say that you love someone and not give; it could be money, gifts, time etc. Love gives and love forgives. The Father is a forgiving and a merciful Father. He is not One to forgive us and remember those sins.

Men could forgive and not forget; but when God forgives, He throws the sin into the Sea of Forgetfulness. Oftentimes, He doesn’t expect us to flee from Him as a result of our sins or hide from His presence like Adam did; instead, He wants us to come before Him and confess our sins because He would forgive us…

He concluded by saying that when we err and flee from God’s presence, we are prone to the devices and attacks of the devil. After he said this, he gave room for questions and answers. Someone stood up and asked, “Sir, what do you mean by the Sea of Forgetfulness?”

“When we sin and ask for forgiveness, He forgives us and doesn’t remember the sin anymore. Oftentimes, the devil tries to remind us of that sin that God has already forgiven us of. Then, we don’t come boldly before our Father and whilst mentioning the sin again to God, God is like – what are you talking about?”

After Pastor Dave said this, lots of ‘Ohs!’ and ‘mmmms’ filled the auditorium.

Then, he made an altar call.
