I sat beside him almost immediately. When I did, he increased the volume of the television set.
“What do you think about Bella?” He asked.
“Uhmm… she is nice. She’s good company.” I answered casually.
“I meant this…” he said and brought out a small box.
When he opened the box to reveal its content, I became mum.
“Tomorrow is her birthday. I took her and the kids out because I wanted it to seem like it was just a normal outing. Also, for the past one week, I have successfully and intentionally avoided any birthday conversation. I see how she checks up on you and relates with you like her own. Also, I see how you relate with Chad and Chelsea. I’d just like us to be one happy family.” Pop explained.
“I agree Pop. I have already accepted her as my mum informally. I have been waiting for you to make it official.” I responded.
He heaved a deep sigh of relief.
“So what’s the plan?” I asked.
“Truth is I’ve got none. I was hoping that you would help me out.” He answered.
