“Hi” I responded.

“I am Jon” he said.

“Okay, Charis.” I replied.

“I am sorry to come up to you in this manner…” He began.

He seemed shy.

“No, it is fine.” I interrupted.

“I just wanted to say hi.” He said.

“That’s thoughtful of you.” I responded.

“Bye.” He said.

“Bye.” I responded.

When I got into the room, Pete was still there and Dianne was in a brighter mood.

“Oh thank God you’re back.” He exclaimed.

“Why? What happened?” I asked.

“I have a lecture by noon…” He replied.

“…oh! And you need to freshen up.” I interrupted.

“Exactly!” He answered.

“Off you go.” Dianne said.

“I will be back immediately after my class.” He assured.

“It’s okay.” She answered.

“Please take care of her for me.” He said.

“Of course I will.” I replied.

“Later.” He said to her and left.

“How are you?” I asked as I sat beside her.

“I am better; thanks to Pete.” She answered.

“Awwnnn! Isn’t he the cutest?” I asked.

“Uhun.” She agreed.

“I hope to find someone like Pete that would have me as much as Pete loves you.” I said dreamily.

“Hello?” She said whilst giving me a skeptical look.

“What?” I asked.

“What about Jake?” She asked.

“Which Jake?” I asked.

“The one that called the other day.” She answered.

“Which day?” I asked.

“Did another Jake call you that I am not aware about?” She asked.
