Immediately I got into the room, I called Aunt K on Skype. It rang for some seconds before she picked up…

“Yay!!! Aunt K!!!” I screamed.

“Hello Sweetie” She replied.

“How are you doing today?” I asked.

“I am good and you?” she responded.

“I am okay. I wasn’t sure you would be available by this time” I replied and asked, “Are you not supposed to be at work?”

“I finally got a two-week break from work two days ago.” She replied.

“Little wonder. That’s nice. So how do you intend to spend the remaining thirteen days?” I asked.

“I don’t know; I would probably just stay indoors.” She said.

“No! Why?! You should hang out with friends. You should start seeing someone too.” I replied.

She laughed for the next one minute and I wondered what was funny about what I said.

“Seeing someone? At what age? I don’t think anybody would want to settle down with someone within my age bracket. They might just want to have fun though.” She said.

I knew she meant it from her expression.

“Aunt K, don’t say that! How can you conclude on your life like that? His ways are not your ways. He has a plan for you, remember? Your age right now doesn’t matter. It’s been about nineteen years since your ex-fiance; Josh’s dad…” I didn’t know when I began a sermon which lasted for the next ten minutes.

By the time I was done, I saw her face lit and countenance was no more sad.

“You have spoken well my dear. Speaking about him (Drake), I heard from a longtime friend that he was convicted of fraud and manslaughter. Apparently, he swindled a lady who was a sociopath. She didn’t take things lightly with him as she frustrated his life so much that he attacked and killed her. Apparently, her therapist testified against him in court; she had intimated her therapist of all that was happening. He will be away for a long time.” She said.

“Wow! You see what I am saying Aunt! That could have been you. Imagine if you had married him; you would have been stuck for life.” I said.

“You are right. I was skeptical about the whole relationship in the first place. My spirit wasn’t just in support of it; but he convinced me otherwise. Truly, God is the All-knowing One. Through it all, I am grateful; I have got Josh.” She replied.

“That’s true; where is Josh?” I asked.

“Uh! He’s out with some friends. He should be back before midnight.” She replied.

“You see! Aunt K, I hope to hear good news from you shortly.” I said.

“Thanks sweetie. Now we are done with me, let us talk about you. How has been college these past few days?” She asked.

“It has been fine. Thank God. He’s been faithful…” I went ahead to gist her about Dianne, Pete, church and so on.

“That’s nice. What about Travis? Isn’t he there with you? Don’t tell me you two have grown apart…” Aunt K asked.

“Travis…” I said and paused for a moment before I continued, “His father didn’t want him to resume here since they had relocated so it is just me, Dianne, school and church for now.”

“Sorry sweetie.  So any boy? Are you crushing on anyone?” She asked.

“Aunt K!!! That’s too soon now. Don’t worry when there is someone, you will be the first to know.” I said and I meant it.

“Promise?” She asked.

“Pinkie promise.” I replied.

“Alright sweetie.” She replied.

“Seen Pop lately?” I chipped in.

“Nope; but I will check on him on Saturday.” She replied.

I became curious and didn’t know when the words slipped out of my mouth…

“Did you know about Kate?” I asked.

“What did you say?” She asked after feigning a cough.

“Aunt K? I know you heard me.” I said.

“Erm… about Kate… yes I did. I bumped into them months ago at a shopping mall…” She confessed.

“I see…” I whispered.

“Your dad introduced her to me and from the look in his eyes whilst introducing her, I could tell that they had something going on.” She continued.

“Alright. Aunt K, please can we talk later?” I asked when I heard a knock on the door.
