“Isn’t he cute?” she asked me when we got into the room.

“Yes, of course. He is cute.” I replied.

“Uhun!!!  I observed that you weren’t in a conversational mood when he joined us, what happened?” She asked.

“Nothing, I am not ready for that kind of conversation for now. I just want to settle in peacefully.” I replied.

“Okay, I understand.” She said.

I brought out my iPad and checked for notifications. There was none.

Since it was 10:48pm, I decided to chat Pop up to know how his first day without me went.

“POP!!!” I typed and hit the send icon.

Few minutes later…

“PUMPKIN!!!” he replied and I chuckled.

“How are you Pop?” I asked.

“I am okay. I just felt your absence since no one welcomed me when I got home and I am famished.” He replied.

I felt guilty.

“I am sorry Pop.” I apologized.

“It is okay Pumpkin.” He replied.

“So what would you have for dinner?” I asked.

“Kate is on her way. She is bringing dinner with her.” He replied.

“Yeah… Kate.” I thought to myself and replied, “I see.”

“Don’t start tonight Pumpkin.” Pop said.

He knows me too well.

“Okay Pop. So, would you be going to church tomorrow?” I asked.

“Yes I will. I wouldn’t miss church for anything” he replied and asked, “You?”

“Yes Pop. I checked for places of worship on campus in the School’s Handbook and discovered that an Anglican church is just some blocks away from here. So I would check it out tomorrow” I replied.

“That’s good Pumpkin. I will talk to you tomorrow. You need your beauty sleep. Besides, Kate just drove in.” He replied.

“Okay Pop. Good night. I love you.” I concluded.

“Night Pumpkin. I love you too.” He concluded.

I heaved a sigh of relief. At least Pop would have dinner and company. I noticed Bella was online some minutes ago so I left her an offline message.

“Charis!!! I thought you wouldn’t beep me tonight.” She replied seconds later.

“Of course I would beep. I keep to my word.” I replied.

“Okay. How was your first day at school?” She asked.

“It was fine.” I replied and went ahead to download all that happened.
